Indigenous Ohlone people are believed to have traveled along the low-lying route beside Sans Souci Creek, a waterway that was later buried as the city grew and still flows beneath the streets today. Now connecting Market Street to the Panhandle through a clever series of turns, The Wiggle lets cyclists skirt San Francisco’s steeper grades. This original artwork celebrates a route shaped by layers of the city’s history—from creek and footpath to streets and one of San Francisco’s most beloved bike routes.
