Paradise Lounge was less a polished concert hall than a sprawling SoMa playground for live music. At 1501 Folsom near 11th Street, the multi-room club hosted a relentless mix of local bands, touring acts, DJs and late-night parties, with hundreds of performers passing through its stages. Green Day, 4 Non Blondes and Third Eye Blind were among the bands associated with the venue as their careers were taking off. Paradise closed around 2010, leaving behind the kind of wonderfully chaotic, anything-might-happen music space that once defined this corner of San Francisco nightlife.
